A sluggish Lymphatic system can hinder your best weight loss efforts.

Your lymphatic system is a system made up of glands, lymph nodes, the spleen your tonsils and thymus gland.  Your Lymphatic system bathes your body’s cells, carrying cellular toxins away from the tissues to the blood where it can be filtered by two of the body’s main detoxification organs- the liver and kidneys.
Toxins are everywhere, they are the by-products of normal every day metabolism & bodily processes.  We consume them using over-the-counter, prescription and illicit drugs, we inhale them via cigarettes and the airborne pollutants we breath within our everyday environments.  Toxins are found in our food in the way of additives, preservatives and the obscene amounts of pesticides herbicides, fungicides that are freely and openly used right along our food chain.  One of the most alarming types of toxins are the endocrine disrupting synthetic estrogens found in the tap water we drink.
It is estimated that 80 percent of women have sluggish lymphatic systems.  To get lymph flowing smoothly is the key to easy weight loss and improved feelings of well-being.
There is three times more lymphatic fluid than there is blood in our body, yet there is no organ lymphatic fluid. Your blood gets pumped around by the heart- yet our lymph system relies on the contraction and pressure of muscular action- movement, deep breathing and exercise to enable flow and transport of toxins into the blood before the toxins are detoxified by your liver, moving onto your kidneys and renal system for elimination.  If you are suffering from injuries, excess weight, cellulite, or pain disorders like arthritis, bursitis or headaches, a sluggish lymphatic system may be playing a role.
How to get your Lymphatic fluid moving!
Exercise ensures the lymphatic system flows properly. Inversion tables dramatically improve lymph flow.
Hot saunas followed by an immediate cold shower– or a plunge into an icy cold pool is excellent for moving lymphatic fluid.  Doing this alternate hot sauna then plunge numerous times in one session.  It is the contraction of the ice after the warm vasodilation of the sauna which gets your immune system activated.
Drink plenty of water. Without at least- at least, 2 litres of water a day- depending on your body movement, climate and a few other variances, lymph fluid cannot flow properly. To help ensure the water is readily absorbed by your cells.
Eat healthy fats like avocado, raw nuts such as walnuts almonds hazelnuts pecans brazil nuts and macadamias and of course seeds- Hemp seeds are amazing.  Flaxseeds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds are also wonderfully nutritious. Healthy fats will ensure you get enough essential fatty acids into your diet which help protect and nourish not only every cells in your body, but your entire lymphatic system.

Eat raw fruit on an empty stomach. The enzymes and acids in fruit are powerful lymph cleansers. Eat them on an empty stomach for best digestion and maximum lymph-cleansing benefits. Most fruits are digested within 30 minutes or so and quickly help you feel better.  Citrus fruits have astringent properties that increase lymph flow.  Don’t go overboard though- just 2 pieces a day
Eat plenty of green vegetables to get adequate chlorophyll to help purify your blood and lymph- you can also purchase a bottle of Chlorophyll and add it to your water for an extra energy and cleansing hit.
Congestion of the lymphatic system can also be caused by an iodine deficiency. Iodine helps protect us from the toxic environment we live in and supports our lymphatic system at a cellular level.  Be sure to get getting plenty of sea weeds- eggs and dairy also contain good amounts of Iodine.
Dry skin brush before showering.  Using a hard bristled brush, brush your skin in an upward motion- the same direction as your lymphatic fluid flows naturally- up toward your heart.
Massage!  Specifically- Lymphatic drainage.  Yes- there is a specific massage to clear the lymphatic system.  Studies show that even just a regular remedial massage can push up to 78 percent of stagnant lymph back into circulation.
